Turtonator

Turtonator is a Fire/Dragon-type turtle Pokémon introduced in Generation VII (Pokémon Sun and Moon), categorized as the Blast Turtle Pokémon. It dwells in volcanic environments, where the sulfur it consumes produces explosive compounds in the spiky, dome-like shell on its back. The horn-tipped protrusions and the explosive bulge on its shell make it dangerous to attack from behind, while it lacks an evolutionary line and stands alone as a single-stage species.

The Japanese name バクガメス (Bakugamesu) combines 爆 (baku, from bakuhatsu 爆発, meaning 'explosion') with カメ (kame, meaning 'turtle'); the trailing 'su' may evoke a hard or hissing finish to the name. The English name 'Turtonator' blends 'turtle' with 'detonator,' directly referencing both its reptilian basis and its explosive nature.
