Goomy is the Soft Tissue Pokémon, a Dragon-type introduced in Generation VI (Pokémon X and Y) in the Kalos region. Often described as the weakest Dragon-type, its body is entirely soft and coated in a protective layer of slime that must stay moist; if the slime dries out, Goomy becomes lethargic and vulnerable. It dwells in shaded, humid areas, and the horn-like protrusions on its head are believed to function as sensory organs. Goomy evolves into Sliggoo and ultimately into the snail-like dragon Goodra.
The Japanese name ヌメラ (Numera) derives from the onomatopoeic Japanese word ヌメヌメ (numenume) or 滑る (numeru), meaning slimy, slippery, or slick, reflecting the Pokémon's mucus-covered body. The English name 'Goomy' is built from 'goo' (referring to its sticky, slimy substance) combined with a diminutive/cute suffix, evoking its gooey, soft texture. Both names emphasize the moist, slimy nature central to this species.
