Falinks

Falinks is a Fighting-type Pokémon introduced in Generation VIII (Pokémon Sword and Shield), and is unusual in that it is a single Pokémon composed of six individuals working as one unit. It consists of five 'Troopers' and one 'Brass' (the leader at the head), who relay commands down the line; if the formation breaks, the members struggle to act effectively. They constantly rearrange their formation during battle to adapt their strategy, reflecting themes of teamwork and military discipline.

The Japanese name タイレーツ (Tairētsu) combines 隊列 (tairetsu), meaning a column, rank, or formation of troops marching in line, evoking a military squad. The English name 'Falinks' is derived from 'phalanx' (the ancient Greek close-rank infantry formation) blended with 'links' or 'rank,' emphasizing the linked, single-file fighting unit. Both names highlight the concept of soldiers moving and battling in coordinated formation.
