Flaaffy

Flaaffy is the Wool Pokémon, the middle evolutionary stage between Mareep and Ampharos, and an Electric-type resembling a pink, partially shorn sheep. Its fleece stores static electricity, and as more charge accumulates the wool can fall away in patches, leaving rubbery, electricity-resistant bare skin where it builds up the strongest charges. It uses this stored energy for powerful electric attacks, and its design reflects the real-world association between wool and static buildup.

The Japanese name モココ (Mokoko) likely combines もこもこ (mokomoko), an onomatopoeic/mimetic word in Japanese describing something fluffy, fuzzy, or puffy, fittingly evoking its woolly fleece. The English name 'Flaaffy' is derived from 'fluffy,' with the doubled 'a' playfully evoking the bleating 'baa' of a sheep, reinforcing its sheep-like design. Both names emphasize its soft, wool-covered body.
