Litleo

Litleo is the Lion Cub Pokémon, a Fire/Normal-type introduced in Generation VI (Kalos region). It is hot-blooded and brimming with curiosity, and the short mane on its head heats up when it grows angry or enters battle, reflecting its fiery temperament. Litleo tends to live and challenge itself away from the pride to grow stronger, and it eventually evolves into Pyroar, with males and females developing distinctly different manes.

The Japanese name シシコ (Shishiko) combines 獅子 (shishi), meaning 'lion,' with the diminutive suffix コ (-ko), which is often used to denote something small or young, fitting its status as a cub. The English name 'Litleo' is a portmanteau of 'little' (referencing its youthful, cub-like nature) and 'leo' (the Latin word for 'lion,' also the lion constellation). Both names emphasize that this is a young lion.
