History

Cinccino is the Scarf Pokémon, a Normal-type evolution of Minccino introduced in Generation V (the Unova region), and it evolves when a Shiny Stone is used on Minccino. Its body is covered in fur coated with a special oil that lets attacks slip off and reduces friction, and the white fur ringing its neck resembles a fashionable scarf or boa. Known for being fastidiously clean, it grooms itself and its surroundings, and the prized oil from its coat is said to sell for a high price.

Name & meaning

The Japanese name チラチーノ (Chirachīno) builds on its pre-evolution チラーミィ (Chillarmy), combining the onomatopoeia 'chira' (チラ), suggesting a quick glance or fleeting glimpse and a sense of daintiness, with 'chīno,' which evokes a refined or Italian-sounding suffix that lends an elegant, chinchilla-like flair. The English name 'Cinccino' is derived from 'chinchilla' (the soft-furred rodent it resembles) blended with a diminutive '-ino' ending, giving it a graceful, stylish feel that mirrors the Japanese name's elegance.
