Skrelp

Skrelp is a Poison/Water-type Pokémon introduced in Generation VI (Kalos region) that mimics rotten seaweed to hide from predators while drifting in the ocean. It sprays liquid poison at weakened prey and enemies, using camouflage as its primary survival strategy. Skrelp evolves into the more dragon-like Dragalge, gaining a fearsome reputation as it matures from a passive piece of 'kelp' into a powerful Poison/Dragon-type.

The Japanese name クズモー (Kuzumō) combines 屑 (kuzu), meaning 'scrap,' 'rubbish,' or 'waste'—fitting its appearance as a piece of rotten seaweed—with モー, possibly derived from 'seaweed' (藻, mo) or used as a creature-like suffix. The English name 'Skrelp' is a portmanteau of 'kelp' (a type of seaweed) and likely 'scrap' or 'skrew/scrawny,' evoking a discarded, scraggly piece of marine plant life. Both names emphasize its disguise as worthless, drifting kelp.
