Frogadier is the evolved middle stage of the Kalos Water-type starter line, between Froakie and Greninja. Known as the Bubble Frog Pokémon, it is renowned for its extraordinary speed and agility, capable of scaling tall structures in moments and dodging attacks with ease. It hurls bubble-covered pebbles with precise control, demonstrating the developing ninja-like prowess that fully blossoms upon evolving into Greninja.

The Japanese name ゲコガシラ (Gekogashira) combines 'ゲコ' (geko), the Japanese onomatopoeia for a frog's croak (ribbit), with 'かしら/頭' (kashira), meaning 'head' or 'leader/boss'—suggesting a frog that has grown into a more capable, intermediate figure. The English name 'Frogadier' fuses 'frog' with 'grenadier,' a type of soldier historically tasked with throwing grenades, reflecting its bubble-throwing combat style and ninja-like agility.
