About this card

This is a Common Basic Pokémon card of Binacle (#42) from the English Perfect Order set. As a low-rarity Common, it is a standard entry typically used to evolve into Barbaracle, though specific stats and artwork details are not confirmed here.

History

Binacle is a Rock/Water-type Pokémon introduced in Generation VI (Kalos region), based on the gooseneck barnacle, with two beings dwelling on one rock that resemble hands. As the 'Two-Handed Pokémon,' its survival depends on cooperation between the two: they extend their hand-like bodies in unison to catch food and wash it down with seawater, and both offense and defense crumble when their teamwork fails. It evolves into Barbaracle, a Pokémon formed when several Binacle gather, creating a body resembling multiple limbs and heads.

Name & meaning

The Japanese name カメテテ (Kametete) appears to combine カメ (kame, 'turtle' or shellfish-like creature) with テテ, which evokes 手 (te, 'hand')—doubled to suggest its pair of hand-like appendages. The English name 'Binacle' derives from 'barnacle' (the marine crustacean it resembles) combined with 'bi-' (meaning 'two'), referencing the two creatures that share a single rock.
