Furfrou

Furfrou is the Poodle Pokémon, a Normal-type introduced in Generation VI (Kalos region). Its most distinctive feature is its luxurious fur, which can be trimmed into various Trim Forms—including styles inspired by royalty—reflecting a real history in which it was said to have guarded the kings of Kalos. It is loyal but particular, only permitting people it trusts to groom and cut its coat, and its appearance loses its styling if left untrimmed for too long.

The Japanese name トリミアン (Torimian) derives from the English word 'trimming' (トリミング, torimingu)—referring to the grooming and styling of a poodle's coat—combined with a suffix evoking a dog's name or a breed-like sound. The English name 'Furfrou' blends 'fur' with 'frou-frou,' a term meaning fussy, elaborate, or ornamental decoration, fitting its fancy groomed appearance. Both names emphasize the elegant, salon-styled coat that defines this Pokémon.
