Metang

Metang is the evolved form of Beldum and the middle stage before Metagross, a Steel/Psychic-type Pokémon. It forms when two Beldum fuse together, linking their brains so that the combined psychic power is far greater than the sum of its parts. Using magnetic forces to levitate, it flies swiftly through rugged terrain and pursues prey with its sharp claws, embodying its Iron Claw Pokémon category.

The Japanese name メタング (Metangu) is the same as the English name Metang, combining 'metal' with a sound suggestion of 'tang' or a metallic clang. Both the English and Japanese names derive from 'metal,' reflecting the Pokémon's steel-type composition and iron body, with the suffix possibly evoking a sharp or ringing tone. The name is essentially identical across both languages, a transliteration rather than a translation.
