History

Krookodile is the Intimidation Pokémon and the final evolution of Sandile, a Ground/Dark-type introduced in Generation V (Unova region). Its red, mask-like markings around the eyes resemble a bandit's disguise, and its eyes can act like binoculars to spot distant prey. Highly aggressive, it ambushes targets by burying itself in desert sand for days, and its powerful jaws can crush an automobile.

Name & meaning

The Japanese name ワルビアル (Warubiaru) combines 悪い (warui, meaning 'bad' or 'evil') with a portion likely derived from 'gavial'/'gharial' (a type of crocodilian), reflecting both its menacing demeanor and its crocodile basis. The English name 'Krookodile' is a portmanteau of 'crook' (a criminal, fitting its bandit-like appearance) and 'crocodile,' with the 'K' stylization tying it visually to its evolutionary line.
